15 June 2008: It is over.
Jennifer Anne Cary (the Jennie of Jenesario) passed away at home on June 15th, 2008. She was 25.
Jennie's life was amazing all the way to the end. Even as her disease took away her strength, her freedom, and her comfort she continued to refer to herself as 'stupid-happy'. She said she had no regrets about her life.
If you wish to remember her, send a donation in her name to:
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières or KIVA Small Loans Project.
This website will stay 'live' as a memorial to Jennie for some time to come.
She is survived by her family and friends and the many people whose lives she touched.
Oh and also by her cats.

5 December 2007: Much has happened in the last 8 months and I have not had the umph to try and get any of it down on the site. There is a lot of news. First, I took another trip (surprise surprise), this time to Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Arkansas, Indiana, and Alabama. It was mostlty a trip to see the Cat Empire perform in Atlanta, Chatanooga, and Nashville, but (in our tru travellers' nature) we expanded it to much more. It was a great and tiring trip, and Allie flew home to visit and go on a couple of days of the trip, which was REALLY SPECIAL. Also, The Cat Empire themselves were so wonderful... not just their performances, but their treatment of me, mom, and Allie. What they did was beyond explaining in this little snippit, so I wopnt even try. They were just well worth what happened on the flight home.... I popped my right lung.

That's right, I popped my right lung in June and actually wasn't bothered
by it enough to go to the doctor until a week or two after I popped it. In
fact, I felt better than normal except for some pain in my shoulderblade.
Well, when I finally did get it checked out the doctors made me check into
the hospital immediately, which led to 18 days in the hospital ( a whole other
story) in which I met many nice people but did not have the problem resolved.
I ended up leaving with a collapsed lung, three holes in my side (sewn up)
and 18 days of no exersise.
The hospital itself was like being on a cruise in the beginning, but it left
me much weaker, and three days after I was sent home at last I was brought
in for a check-up and was immediately put on hospice. We also found out that
one of our teammates from Team Africa had suddenly died.
At the enty to Hospice, Allie and Andrew came home again. I was fading quickly,
it seemed, and we wanted to spend as much time as possible together. Allie
and I worked on a book together (that I had written for kids while in Scotland),
illusrtating together, and we spent a lot time watching movies, playing cards,
and listening to The Cats. I also got to know Andrew a little better and hope
he got to know me better too. They ended up staying over 6 weeks due to Peacecorps
travel issues (instead of the 2 they expected), which was really great as
the last weeks had some very special moments.
And now I have again defied what the doctors predicted-- I survived my birthday,
I survived dad's birthday, I survived Thanksgiving, and I've made it through
the decoration of the Christmas Tree. Also, as everyone who has met me knows,
I have lived a charmed life that I am very grateful for, and if I am not able
to submit another entry onto this site with more new of events in my life,
just know that I live happily and with no regrets and that I wish all of my
family and friends love and hugs and happiness to everyone.
